Marin S-Cascade

Description: * Destination : Mill Valley (South) Cascade Falls, in Marin County
* Stats : 8-12 miles, 2100+ ft gain, 2.2 mph.
* Meeting Time : Sun, Apr 08, 2018 @ 7:15 am, near Palo Alto
* Estimated finish : 4:15 pm, back at the trailhead
* Organizer: DN (walks.nani at gmail dot com)
* RSVP : Yes, by Friday 6 PM. Info about the meeting place will be mailed after the rsvp-s close. Join the waitlist and let me know your email and contact number unless you are sure that I know you; and tell me in brief about your hiking ability as in max distance hiked and in what time, max elevation, etc.

The plan is to start from Throckmorton Ave parking, but instead of taking the famous Dipsea steps from Old Mill Park, take Cascade Drive towards (South) Cascade Falls in Mill Valley, not to be confused with (North) Cascade Falls near Fairfax some 7-8 crow miles further north. Next Cypress-Edgewood-Tenderfoot loop clockwise, and next Zig-zag Trail to Mountain Home Inn. At this point, I gain trail which is known to me, and we will take Nora Trail to West Point Inn where we will stop for coffee (only cash is accepted, I think). Next Railroad Grade and Hogback to Mountain Home Inn. From here, we either take Zig Zag Trail again, or, more likely, take Tourist Club, Sun Trail and Dipsea steps back to the car. Not sure about the mileage. Be prepared for anything up to 12 miles.

Check the park's website for parking fee and suchlike details. Bring a plastic bag or two for shoes. Do not bring pets. Bring dollars for carpool, parking, etc.
